Where San Antonio roll-offs get emptied

Landfills and drop-off sites around San Antonio

Your hauler picks the tip site, not you. Knowing the options still helps: it explains what a company will refuse, and it tells you where you could take a pickup load yourself.

City of San Antonio drop-off centers (residents only)

The Solid Waste Management Department runs four bulky waste collection centers. They are free for households that pay the city's environmental fee. Bring a recent CPS Energy bill and a photo ID. Commercial haulers are turned away.

Open Tuesday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The city and another guide list different Saturday closing times, so call 3-1-1 before a Saturday run.

Per visit limits

  • Bulky items: up to 4 cubic yards
  • Construction debris: up to 1 cubic yard
  • No bagged household trash

Turned away at the gate

  • Brush, leaves and yard waste
  • Soil, rocks and concrete
  • Hazardous materials

The city keeps a longer list, so check it before you load.

Paint, pool chemicals and batteries

These do not belong in a roll-off. The city's household hazardous waste drop-off is at the Culebra site, 7030 Culebra Road. It accepts paint, auto fluids, batteries, household cleaners, pool chemicals, pesticides, oil filters and electronics from residents.

Why this matters when you rent

Construction debris and brush can go to Beck, but a box with a mattress or household bags in it cannot, so a hauler may route a mixed load to a different landfill. If your job is all brush or all concrete, say so when you ask for a price. A clean single-material load gives the hauler more choices.
